A Note From the Principal

Hello Bakersfield community!

I am so excited to be joining you as your new principal! Let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I have been working for the last three years as the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment, And Grants for the Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union (OSSU) in Hardwick. I have been in education for nineteen years now, and I love the many opportunities I’ve had to serve students, educators and the greater community in which I’ve worked. I am passionate about serving the whole child (academically and social-emotionally),  understanding the brain and growth mindset, and understanding and promoting equity, and social justice.

On a personal note, My husband and I own and operate a dairy farm in Johnson, which takes most of my time when I’m not at work. I have a son who is in college and a daughter who lives nearby and works at Northern Vermont University. In my spare time (when I am not at school or farming), I love to sit on my deck or curl in a chair with a good book. I also love music and theater. You can often find me singing and dancing, or playing the piano. I am also an avid sports fan (especially when it comes to basketball). However, I am a much better observer then player. I love nature, my animals, and being with family and friends as well. In my mind, life is too short to not love many things.

I am greatly looking forward to getting to know this community better and to serving you all as we work to ensure that all Bakersfield students have a safe, respectful environment, where the dignity, uniqueness and growth of all is honored.  I want you to know that my office door is always open, so feel free to come by and chat. Also, we as a school would love to have parents and community volunteers in our classrooms, so if you are interested please stop into the office or talk with a BEMS teacher. I hope you all had a great Summer, and are looking forward to a wonderful year.
